Selection Procedure of IAF 2017-18 Batch

All candidates whose applications are submitted by due date will be called for AFCAT and engineer knowledge test on 26th February 2017 at one of the examination centres. Applicants who are selected on the basis AFCAT will be called for further testing at one of the AFSBs at Dehradun, Gandhinagar, Mysore, Varanasi, or Kancharapara. More details check below:

Air Force Common Admission Test Application Form 2017-18

Stage-1:- Test consisting of Intelligence test along with other exams will be organized on the 1st day. The stage-1 exam is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing. All stages-1 selected applicants would be subjected to document verification ascertain their eligibility for the branches applied for.

Stage-2:- AFCAT Testing consisting of Psychological, Group tests and Interview will be organized on subsequent days (5-days)

For Flying Branch:- Computerised pilot selections system (CPSS) would be administrated to eligible applicants. This is once in a lifetime test. Applicants who have failed the CPSS or PABT in an earlier attempt or a flight cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply.

Type of Commission

(1). PC:- Applicants joining as PC officers would continue to serve till the age of superannuation

(2). SSC:- (a) The engagement period for SSC flying branch is 14 years from the date of commissioning (not extendable).

(b). The initial tenure for SSC officers in GD (technical) and GD (No-Technical) branches would be for a period of 10 years. An extension of 4 years may be granted subject to willingness, suitability, service requirement and availability of vacancies.
