Physical Test Details/Selection Criteria

Indian Navy SSR selection of recruits is based on the order of merit on their performance in paper-based test (written test) check below Physical and other details.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT): PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be complete in 7 minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 push-ups. Applicants undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.

Written Test Details: The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type.

  • Indian Navy Medical Test Details: Medical examination will be conducted by authorized military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry. Minimum height 157 cms.

Visual Standard Details

With Glasses:

  • Better Eye: 6/6
  • Worse Eye: 6/6

Without Glasses:

  • Better Eye: 6/6
  • Worse Eye: 6/9

Tattoos: Permanent body tattoose are only permitted on inner face of foreams that is from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/back (dorsal) side of the hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and the applicant will be barred from recruitment.

Training and Initial Engagement Indian Navy SSR 2018

Training: The training for the course will commence in February 2018 with 22 weeks basic training at INS Chilka followed by professional training in the allotted trade in various Naval Training Establishments. Branch/Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of service.

Discharge as Unsuitable: Sailors are liable to be discharged as UNSUITABLE due to unsatisfactory performance at any time during the training

Initial Engagement: The initial engagement is subject to successful completion of training and is for a period of 15 years. www.criteria.in
