IAS Exam Educational Qualification for Appearing in IAS Test

Candidates must be done a degree of any of the university incorporated by an Act of the Central of state Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or announced to be a Deemed University under the UGC Act 1956 or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants who have appeared or intend to appear for the qualifying test and are awaiting exam result are also eligible to appear for the Preliminary test however, they are supposed to submit proof of passing the requisite qualification along with detailed application form for Civil Services (Main) test.

Number of Attempts Allowed for IAS Exam Category wise

  • 06 Attempts for General categories
  • 09 Attempt for Other Backwards Castes (OBC)
  • For Sc/ST category applicants, the new age limit is 37 years while the number of attempts unlimited.
  • For physically handicapped applicants, the age limit is 42, 45 and 47 years for general, OBC and SC/ST category respectively while the number of attempts is 09 for general and OBC and unlimited for SC/ST category.
  • The changes in the number of attempts and age limit will apply w.e.f. Civil Services examination 2014.

Nationality: Provided that an applicant belonging to all categories shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the government of India.

UPSC IAS Age Criteria Category wise

  • Upper age limit for General category: 32 years
  • Upper age limit for OBC: 35 years
  • Upper age limit for SC/ST: 37 years
  • Upper age limit for citizens of Jammu and Kashmir: 37 years
  • Upper age limit for Defence services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence there of: 35 years
  • Upper age limit for Ex-servicemen: 37 years
  • Upper age limit for blind, deaf-mute and Orthopedically handicapped persons: 42 years

    My birth date is 5 June 1985.nd belong to general catagory.and I want to know I m eligible for upsc exam or not.I think the age limit is 32 year
