This proposal was reserved with the point of view of reducing the recruitment cycle and reducing the expenses spent on various exams.

Union Minister has recently made the declaration for the set of NRA to conduct a Common Entrance Test for All Jobs replacing multiple job exams. This would be an advantageous decision for young and talented applicants who are looking for government jobs.

Common Entrance Test for All Jobs: CET 2024

At present, applicants who are looking for government jobs need to appear for separate exams conducted by multiple recruiting agencies but now it has been changed and applicants need to appear for Common Entrance Test for All Jobs

Candidates need to pay fees to multiple recruiting agencies and also have to travel very long distances in different places for appearing in so many exams. These recruitment exams are a great burden for every student, as also for all recruitment agencies.

National Recruitment Agency (NRA)

A multi-agency body also known as National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will conduct a Common Eligibility Test to shortlist eligible and eager applicants for the Group B and C (non-technical) posts. NRA will have representatives of the Ministry of Finance/Dept, the Ministry of Railways of Financial Services, the SSC, RRB & IBPS..

Benifits of CET and NRA

Access to Exam Centers

In the country, all the examination centers would greatly enhance access to applicants located in far-flung areas.

A special focus on generating exam infrastructure in the 117 Aspirational Districts would go a long way in affording access to candidates at a place nearer to where they reside.

Major Relief to poor Candidates

Currently, applicants need to appear in multiple exams conducted by multiple agencies. Apart from the exam fees, applicants bear additional expenses for travel, boarding, lodging, and other such. The single exam would reduce the financial burden on applicants to a large extent.

Women candidates to benefit greatly

Women applicants especially from rural areas face limitations in appearing in multiple exams as they have to assemble for transportation and places to stay in places that are far away.

Female category applicants sometimes have to find appropriate persons to escort them to these Centres that are located far away. If the Location of test centers in every District this is really good and greatly benefits every applicant from many rural areas in general and women candidates in particular.

Outreach Activities By NRA

Multiple languages

CET would be accessible in a number of languages. This would to a great extent make it easy for people from diverse parts of the country to take the exam and have an equal prospect of being selected.

Scores – access to multiple recruitment agencies

In the beginning, the scores would be used by the three major recruitment agencies. On the other hand, over a period of time, it is estimated that other recruitment agencies in the Central Govt would adopt the same.

Shortening the recruitment cycle

Single eligibility test would considerably reduce the recruitment cycle. Some Depts have specified their intention to do away with any second level test and go ahead with recruitment on the basis of CET scores, Physical Tests and Medical examination.

What is CET or Common Eligibility Test?

  • Only a single online CET by NRA will be conducted for recruitment in non-gazetted posts in both the govt and public sector banks. There won’t be any separate examination for these posts.
  • Validation period for CET scores will be for three years counted from the date of the result announcement. Each candidate will be provided with two additional chances to improve their scores
  • CET will be organized in every district to make ease for the rural, women, youth, and disabled candidates to appear in the exam.  Separate CET would be conducted for Graduate, Higher Secondary, and Matriculate levels.
