North Maharashtra University (NMU)was established in 1990 is located in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. It has been awarded ‘A’ Grade by NAAC. There are 220 affiliated college and 4 University recognized Research Institutes/Centres under the jurisdiction of University.
Details of NMU Admission| Online Procedure
NMU has been awarded 1st position in Maharashtra State and 40th position among 620 universities in India by the India Today survey of 2013. University has effectively adopted the ‘School Concept’ with academic flexibility for the optimal use of infrastructure and resources.
Admission to the Ph.D. Programme will be done through an Entrance Test followed by an Interview. Application process will be online through the website which will be available from last week of June 2024. Out of total available seats, 50% seats for those who qualify the Entrance Test and 50% seats for those who are exempted from the Entrance Test as mentioned accordingly.

Eligibility Criteria
Ph.D. (Library & Information Science)
You should have a M. Lib degree or should have qualified I.Sc. / NET /SET /JRF examinations.
Ph.D. (Journalism and Mass Communication)
- You should have any post-graduation degree and any NET/SET/JRF.
- Phil/Ph.D in Science , M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts & M.Phil/Ph.D in Commerce
- You should any post-graduation degree with at least 50 % marks or equivalent CGPA from any recognized statutory University.
Complete process to apply for NMU PHD ADMISSION 2024
- Students should apply online for admission to the Ph.D. Programme from the official site
- Fill the information carefully.
- Upload your scanned passport size photo and signature (signed with black ink).
- At the end take hard copy of form
- Keep in mind that hard copy of the submitted online Application Form must be enclose along with the supporting documents in an envelope of size 36 cm x 25 cm and send the same to the address which will b soon announced in official site
Estimate Application Fee:
- 1000 for general category students
- 800 for reserved category
- 5000 for foreign students
Selection Process
- Selection with be based on the Ph.D. Entrance Test devised and conducted by the University.
- If you qualify through Entrance Test, shall have to appear for an interview before the committee constituted for the allocation of the Research Guides.
Exemptions for Entrance Test:
- You should have qualified in SET/NET/JRF examinations of the apex bodies as CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ ICMR/DBT
- For persons with exceptional abilities and Senior Citizens at the discretion of Vice-Chancellor
- If you have Passed M.Phil., M.E./M.Tech, M.Pharm from statutory University
- For teachers having 5 years regular (unconditional approval) teaching experience at U.G./P.G. level
Reservation Criteria
Reservation criteria will be as per reservation policy .On the other hand, candidates from other state Universities will not be considered for reservation
