OPSC RECRUITMENT SELECTION PROCESS 2023: Merit List, Rank Card, How to Check Result

Selection Process: 

OPSC Civil Services Exam Selection procedure consists of Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Personality Test or Interview.

Preliminary Examination:

  • Preliminary Exam is intended to provide as screening test only.
  • Preliminary Exam shall consist of two papers of objective type (Multiple choice questions)
  • Each paper shall be of two hours duration.
  • Preliminary exam will be conducted for 400 marks.
  • Qualifying marks in the Preliminary Exam may be fixed by the Commission.
  • Marks obtained in Preliminary Exam by students who are declared qualified for admission to main exam will not be counted for shaping their final order of merit.

Main Examination:

  • Applicants who will qualify in the Preliminary Examination, shall be called by the Commission, to appear in the Main Exam.
  • Main Exam shall include Odia Language, English, English Essay, General Studies-I & II papers carries 1400 marks, two non-compulsory subjects having two papers
  • Each paper carries 300 marks of total 1200 marks.
  • Time duration for each paper will be three hours.
  • Number of candidates to be declared to the Main Exam would be 12 times of the total number of vacancies announce.
  • Only those applicants who will get announced by Commission to have qualified in Preliminary Exam next to a particular advertisement will be eligible for admission to the Main Exam against the said advertisement.

Personality Test: 

  • Applicants who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the Main Exam as may be fixed by the Commission they shall be called for personality test.
  • Personality test or interview will carry 250 Marks
  • No least amount qualifying marks for personality test or interview shall be fixed.
  • Applicants shall be interviewed by a Board to be comprise by the O,P.S.C. for the purpose.
  • Objective of interview will be to appraise the personal appropriateness of the candidate for a career in public service.
  • Object of test shall be to judge the mental caliber of applicants .

Total Marks:

  • Total marks thus obtained by students in the written exam and personality test or interview would determine their ranking.
  • Applicants shall be allotted to the various services keeping in view their ranks in the exam and the preferences indicated by them for various services.
