About UPSC CMS Exam:
Combined Medical Services Exam or the CMS Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment as Medical Officer in various organizations. Notification for the exam is generally released in the month of March and the exam is conducted in June. Selection Process Details for UPSC Combined Medical Services Exam:
UPSC CMS Exam consists of Computer-based Examination and Interview/ Personality Test.
1) Computer-based Examination:
Computer-based Exam consists Two papers, each paper maximum of 250 marks, time duration will be Two hours.
2) Personality Test/ Interview:
- Applicants who qualify in the written examination will be called for interview/ personality test
- Interview/ personality test will carry 100 marks.
- Personality test will be organized for testing the general knowledge and ability of the candidates in the fields of their academic study and also nature of a personality test to assess the contender’s academic curiosity, important powers of assimilation, the balance of judgment and alertness of mind, the ability for social cohesion, initiative capability for leadership.
- On the basis of the Personality Test, selected applicants will check that they must be Physically and Medically Fit.
- Usually, the UPSC CMS Exam gets conducted one year to complete the complete recruitment process.

- Candidates under UPSC CMS recruitment will be selected on the basis of Computer Based exam and Personality Test.
- Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) shall prepare a merit list of candidates combined the marks secured by candidates in CBT and Personality Test.
- Allotments for various post of Medical Officer, Asst Medical Officer, General Duty Medical Officer, and General Duty Medical Grade II will be done from amongst the candidates in the merit list.
